The Firefly Trail

Project Description

The Firefly Trail is a multi-purpose path for pedestrian, bicycle, and other non-motorized uses that will stretch about 39 miles from Athens to Union Point, Georgia. It will be built on or near the historic corridor of the Athens Branch of the Georgia Railroad and funded by a combination of Transportation Special Local Option Sales Taxes (TSPLOST) and federal and state grants. W&A Engineering services include advising, planning, surveying, designing, civil engineering, and construction layout/staking for the trail in three Georgia counties: Athens-Clarke, Oglethorpe, and Greene. W&A pledged $50,000 in in-kind engineering services toward the completion of the trail to be evenly distributed amongst the counties. W&A Engineering has and continues to closely consult with the stakeholders to develop and, when necessary, refine the Firefly Trail conceptual plan to deliver the very best quality within budget and ahead of schedule.
